Accused leaders wield too much influence

The newspaper recently printed accounts implicating two prominent church leaders in sex scandals (Telegram & Gazette, Nov 20 and Nov. 21). Both men used similar arguments to force women into unwanted sex. One of them claimed that it was the woman’s “only path to salvation,” the other that it “was commanded by God” and that any refusal would place her salvation at risk.
