Readers offer endorsements as Election Day approaches

October, 31st | Uncategorized | No Comments »

What’s wrong with this picture? Our congressman and lieutenant governor are all over the place throwing their formidable weight around, as columnist Kenneth J. Moynihan has noted. I’ve voted for these men, supported them with modest contributions and I’m happy they were elected.

WRTA taking away passengers’ rights

October, 31st | Uncategorized | No Comments »

I was extremely disappointed (but not surprised) by the Worcester Regional Transit Authority’s latest plan to further reduce service levels on an already depleted fixed-route bus system. When is it going to stop? The service available today is a far cry from that which existed just six years ago. The countless reductions and resource reallocations since

Dumping is result of trash-bag costs

October, 31st | Uncategorized | No Comments »

Worcester officials wonder why there’s such a big problem with illegal dumping in the city, then proceed to raise the price of trash bags from $5 to $7.70. That’s only five large or 10 small bags.
